You can help

"The road towards Marine Protected Area status for Musquash has been long and slow. Ultimately, the designation will be made as a regulation under the Oceans Act. Fisheries and Oceans Canada is the responsible department, and the current minister of DFO is Hon. Herb Dhaliwal. To get something through the regulatory process can seem endless, especially if regional politicians are not pushing for it to happen.

That's where you come in. We need to increase the political profile of Musquash in Ottawa in order for it to be dealt with quickly. The nomination was made in October 1998. The required studies are done. There is widespread support for the designation. If you want to see this happen, please take the time now to let your elected representatives, as well as Mr. Dhaliwal and his cabinet colleagues, know. Start with your MP regardless of party. Then contact all New Brunswick Liberal MPs, so Musquash becomes an issue for the Atlantic caucus. Finally, let Mr. Dhaliwal know that it is time to make this designation. There is no need to delay further. We want the MPA designation to be made before the end of the year. Please help us make that happen by using the Fax Action website (see below).
