June 2001Musquash -- Worth Protecting
A new CCNB video featuring the natural history of the Musquash Estuary is now available. Scripted by Musquash Coordinator David Thompson, Marine Conservation Program Director Janice Harvey and Kevin Matthews, and with footage by David Thompson and Kevin Matthews, the 8-minute video profiles the species and habitats of New Brunswick's first candidate marine protected area. It is a compelling story of why this special area is worth protecting. The video is produced by Kevin Matthews of MaxMedia Productions, and is available from the Conservation Council of New Brunswick at a cost of $15 per copy.
A Boat Named Musquash
Thanks to the Garfield Weston Foundation, the Conservation Council is now the proud owner of a 12.5 foot boat named Musquash. Designed and built by St. Andrews boatbuilder John S. Anderson, the craft is a cross between a skiff and a dory, and is equipped with outboard motors and oars. It will be well used by CCNB's Musquash MPA Campaign Coordinator, David Thompson, as he keeps an eye on the estuary, carries out monitoring projects, and tours people around.
Besides the new boat, the Musquash MPA Campaign will be launching a web site, new maps and updated reports in early summer.
