Each year the Conservation Council hosts the Musquash Paddle. This is roughly a three hour journey by canoe, kayak or any other manually powered watercraft, down the Musquash River to Black Beach near the mouth of Musquash Harbour. At the beach, we are met by the Lorneville Community and Recreation Association which caters a barbeque for hungry, tired paddlers.
The Musquash Paddle is an opportunity for supporters of the Musquash MPA Campaign, public officials and (occasionally) politicians to get a water-eye view of this remarkable estuary. Since most of the Musquash Estuary is not accessible by car, much of it remains a mystery to casual visitors. For three years now, between 20 and 40 people have taken advantage of the Musquash Paddle to gain new perspectives, literally, on Musquash's diverse habitats, water and weather conditions as we travel the meandering river along marsh channels, through the narrows, and out into the open harbour.
