Marine protected areas require many assessments to be done, and ongoing research and monitoring to be conducted. Studies in support of the MPA nomination and the development of a management plan include habitat type mapping, key species mapping, ecosystem descriptions, identification of community needs and issues, historical information including aboriginal settlement and utilization, and regulatory and legal requirements. In this section we provide reports produced by the Conservation Council, as well as information on how to access studies conducted by other agencies and research institutions. In the case of CCNB reports, available here as pdf files, some of the content of the original published reports has been extracted and provided separately on this site. These include maps, photo sections and appendices.
