Head of tide, West Branch, Musquash River. On April 30, 1923, during the spring freshet, the dam on the West Branch burst, sending a huge wall of water downstream.  One man was lost, along with houses, barns, farm animals,  four bridges and five kilometres of railroad track. The dam was rebuilt later that year but has since been partially dismantled.
